Pictured left to right:   Rotary President Brad Smith; Kristin Bell, St. Francis DeSales; Lindsey Peters, Westerville Central; Amy Buck, Westerville North; and Rory Fleek, Westerville South.

The January Student’s of the Month were recognized during the January 7 meeting at Villa Milano.  The January students are:  Lindsey Peters, Westerville Central High School; Amy Buck, Westerville North High School; Rory Fleek, Westerville South High School; and Kristin Bell, St. Francis DeSales High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of "Service Above Self."  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Lindsey Peters, a senior at Westerville Central High School, holds a 4.0+ grade point average.  She is the Lacrosse varsity captain, who also runs cross country and is active in the Renaissance Leadership Team, the National Honor Society, KidsOhio Youth Voting Council, and Key Club.  She is a Buckeye Girls State delegate who hopes to attend college and major in biology with a pre-med focus.

Westerville North High School senior Amy C. Buck holds a 4.515 grade point average.  Her favorite subjects are math and science.  She is active in Mock Trial, In the Know, the Science Olympiad, Key Club, Recycling Club, the National Honor Society, and is a junior/senior mentor.  She chaired Westerville North's Caring & Sharing project, is captain of the Crew, volunteers at her church and has raised pilot dogs.  She, too, is a Buckeye Girls State delegate.  She has been accepted into Case Western Reserve University where she plans to major in biomedical or biochemical engineering with the goal of eventually becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

Rory Fleek, a senior at Westerville South, enjoys acting and material science.  He plays rugby for the Worms and serves as the Westerville South mascot.  He was named Student of the Month and is on the honor roll.  He aspires to study premed, and is considering attending The Ohio State University, Otterbein College, or Bowling Green State University.

Kristin Bell is a senior at DeSales who enjoys English literature, graphic art and design.  She holds a 4.1 grade point average, and is captain of the Dance Team.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Stallion T.A.C., and is a student admissions representative.  She has participated in a collaborative dance project, Invisible Children benefits, as a Eucharist minister, and a retreat leader in her junior and senior years.  She has been on the Honor Roll for 14 consecutive quarters.  She has been accepted into the honors program at Miami University.
